Art Bead Scene: March Challenge

This month, I am entering another piece to the Art Bead Scene March Challenge. And for this challenge, inspiration from one of Van Gogh's paintings:

Street Scene in Montmartre: Le Moulin a Poivre by Vincent Van Gogh

Oil on canvas
34.5 x 64.5 cm.
Paris: February-March, 1887

Getting the color palette inspiration from the Art Bead Scene blog, I decided to make earrings for this entry.

All items are hand made with polymer clay and metal findings and filigrees by me. These earrings are fit for a queen.

Hope you like them.

Saturday Claying Day

I have been a very busy bee today and finished projects. I also got the chance to try out Ms. Rocky Villegas-Antonio's Carved Cuff technique. Since I only got 3 sets of push molds, I tried to maximize what I have. (Note to self: Hoarding of clay supplies should include more push molds hahaha!)  I used translucent clay, applied with alcohol inks, then added patina after baking.

And here's the finished item:
"Tribes" bracelet

On my arm :)

Although I should have used less alcohol inks. Oh well, maybe next time.

Here's the link to the tutorial so that you can try it out:

TV stars for a day

Yesterday, me and a bunch of my clay buddies, were fortunate to be included in a TV segment for a show in a local network. The segment was all about the rising polymer clay craft here in the Philippines and how easy it is to make a business out of it even in the comforts of your own home. I was joined by fellow Philippine Polymer Clay Guild artists Melody Felipe (Purplenook) and Roselle Cruz (The Clay Artist).

Here are some screen shots of our TV shoot:

Garden Delight Lockets

I had a chance to play around with my clays this weekend and I was inspired to make some canes for an idea that has been plaguing my mind these past few days.

Talks of spring made me want to make flowers. This time, I incorporated the lockets at the center of the flower. And here are the results:

I may be doing some more in different colors. :)

All of these are soon to be listed in my Esty shop.

Happy Wednesday!

New Steampunk Heart

Still reeling from our Guild's February challenge, I decided to make another steampunk heart. This time my inspiration came from the Greek mythology (I've been reading Rick Riordan's new book that explains it a lot).

Hermes, the greek god with winged feet. The messenger of the gods.

Khloris, the greek goddess of flowers.

Hephaestus, the greek god of blacksmith and fire.

Put them all together and this is the result:

This is listed on my etsy shop.

Hope to create more this week. :)
