Birthday Feast from the Sea

I had been very busy lately juggling between work, claying and my personal life. :)

Last November 28, I celebrated my birthday with my sister and boyfriend at Vikings Buffet Restaurant in SM By the Bay.

It was a feast indeed! With food ranging from pasta, salads, chinese food, japanese food, grilled seafood and meat, and of course my favorite, desserts. Drinks were overflowing as well. I especially loved their strong coffee :).

This is the only time that I felt so full eating at a Buffet. Definitely worth it :)

Pardo Dragons

Last November 13, me and a few members of the Philippine Polymer Clay Guild meet up in a mall for the Pardo Clay Ball Swap.

See the Pardo Clay Balls :)

Pardo is a bakeable clay manufactured in Germany. It has no phthalates (plasticizer- used in polymer clay to make it pliable) and is made from beeswax. It doesn't need any conditioning and the end product is still strong and durable when properly baked.

 The clay balls are packed in a plastic jar per color. And since this is the first time that we will use this product, we decided to swap colors.

Because of the busy season, it took me a month before playing with it. 

Inspired by the facebook page of Ms. Christi Friesen, I decided to make a dragon for every ball of Pardo Clay I have. And so far these are the results:

Global Pinoy Bazaar 2011

Last November 5-6, 2011, the Philippine Polymer Clay Guild participated in the Global Pinoy Bazaar at the Rockwell Tent, Makati. This was the reason why I have been so quiet lately.

Had so much fun working with these girls :) I also want to thank all the P3 guild members for the support. P3 October Challenge

Belated Halloween to all :) I have been so busy preparing for our Global Pinoy Bazaar that I have been neglecting my blog duties. Anyway, let me share with you my entry in our October Something Spooky -Guessing Game challenge.

SM Eco-bag challenge

Hello, it's been quite a while since my last blog. I have not been that seriously claying for these past few weeks. Instead, I would like to share our current office project involving the Eco-bag.


This was a competition given by our Environmental committee for all Departments of SM-SCMC. The challenge was to re-create the SM Eco-bag into something new. Each department was told to design at least 10 bags. The bags designed per department will be displayed at our office lobby for a week.

Since we are the Visual Display Group,we should set ourselves apart from the other department and show them that we are true artists. We decided to have a theme to tie all of our works together. It would be the Safari Glam collection :) We only used the black and beige colors.

For my own design, I decided to reconstruct the bag to make it like a beach handbag and a shoulder bag.

The Pinoy Challenge

I can't believe it's already September! Time flies so fast and the next thing you'll know, it's already Christmas. :) 


For my first post this month, I will be sharing with you what I did for our PINOY Challenge in our guild. The challenge is about incorporating Philippine indigenous materials with Polymer clay.


This was, indeed, a very challenging work for me with all the cramming I did since I was so busy with my day job.


With only two days before the deadline, I managed to submit 2 clay creations.


First is a tin can cover with the Sarimanok (Kingfisher) theme.

The Sarimanok is ubiquitous in the Maranao (a tribe in Mindanao) arts. It was said to be inspired from the Islamic legend of the rooster that Mohammad saw in the first of seven heavens. 


I used different techniques for the background- Mica shift for the Earth panel (with caned leaves), Roughly blending white and different shades of blue to simulate waves for the Water panel, Incorporated metallic foil and alcohol inks for the Air panel (not too noticeable), and extruded clays to form spirals for the Fire panel. Embedded in between are capiz shells. Then for the bird itself, I used sinamay and pearls.


Next project, I tried to make a bracelet using the Alibata, ancient Filipino script.

I photo-transfered the letters, dabbed some alcohol inks into the clay, attached it to the capiz shell then after baking, assembled it with the abaca thread.

This challenge really inspired me. It awaken a part of me that says: "I'm proud to be a Filipino".
